I'm having the same issue as the OP - RPMs go slightly below 500, when coming to a stop, with the A/C off.
I also have another problem, some very slight vibrations, not related with the RPM going below 500. Most noticeable when the car is cold, but also there when it's warm, just less noticeable/vibrating. Usually can be felt when the car is at a stop and in Drive. It feels like the rear of the car is shaking slightly. No RPM fluctuation. The car is a '06 550i, at 46k miles. Things I've done so far:
- Changed sparks at 45k miles.
- Tried different coils, didn't seem to make any difference
- Tried different gas (we have different Octane numbers here in Bulgaria, lowest is 95, 95 premium/98 and 100 octane). Used to drive with 95 premium, last tank is 100 octane, but no noticeable difference.
- Changed tranny oil & filters
- Checked engine/tranny dampeners, all fine
No lights come on, no error codes on diagnostics. Voltage seems to be OK when idle/giving gas... It's a really soft vibration/shake. If I switch to Park/Neutral when the car is warm, it almost feels like it's gone, but it's still there when cold in Park/Neutral.
Anyone else had similar issues? I went over most of the rough idle topics, but didn't find anything similar ...

I have the same annoying issue on a 06 550i as well here. No one seem to know what it is? Since it's not yet giving any faulty codes and don't feel like replacing parts I don't need yet)
PS, spark sparks and crankcase PCV vent valve @ 100,000 miles.
MAF was cleaned twice with (CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner), used two different time (BMW Fuel System Cleaner (20 fl oz) 82140413341) within 1000 miles.

My Ride: 2008 BMW 550i Blue with tan interior. M Package

My 2008 550i has the same scenario described. I followed the advice above. Got the Mass air flow sensor cleaner. Some high quality fuel system cleaner and tank full of shell gas. The car ran great. Absolutely no problems or issues related to the bogging down at idle. The next tank of gas, it comes back. Bogs down and flutters at idle. Take off is slow. Even the throttle response is delayed. So I guess I need a new MAF sensor.
