Question

I just had my 550i dyno-ed prior installing the Dinan S2 SW and Exhaust. It only pulled 255hp at the wheels. The dealer grabbed another 550i off the lot and it pulled 278. These cars should be pulling 280+ at the wheel if they are getting 360 at the crank. Does anyone know who took my horsepower and what I need to do to get it back?

Well, typically you lose 15-20 % between the engine and wheels....but still 255! Should be more than that even with the drive train lose
I think mine is way off too....i've got a friend that has a bone stock '01 Maxima, and he pretty much sticks with me when we are going up the on-ramp onto the freeway after work....and those only have about 205 crank hp.
Did you get a software update? Mine feels slower after the one i got a few months back...

I've heard between 20% and 28% at different RR places, I think some of it depends on the type of RR, interia RR's are supposed to measure the loss on the downrun IIRC ?

Even at 28% your only making around 326bhp at the crank, I would immediately suspect the MAF or the Lambda (oxygen) sensor personally.............

That's not unsual - they often choose to change certain settings to reduce stresses after several years of seeing what problems the engines have had.

it only went to 260. Still well less then a correct running stock 550 should be producing.

That's a worrying comparison only if an '01 Maxima weighs the same as your car. I doubt it does. You want to compare the BHP/Ton figures which I imagine are a lot closer than you might expect.

Yes, they did do a SW update last year to correct an off the line stumbling problem. I did not see a noticable change in full throttle high rpm performance.

Well based on the "advertised" zero to sixty times between the 2...the 550 should be a lot quicker than a 5th gen Maxima...and I should being seeing my co-worker's front end in my mirror during a 25-70mph pull, which i'm not

Hmm... This is strange, perhaps you should have your car checked out. My friend has a 2002 Maxima SE (stock) and I easily pull at least a couple of car length on him every time he tries to mess with me

Yeah, I may. Doesn't seem to pull as hard as it did when I first got it back in Oct. Maybe I'm just getting use to it...i dunno.....but it does feel slower after the software update. There are no codes...so I don't know where they would start looking.
