The charcoal filter is not the filter for interior or cabin air. It's put there as part of the evaporative emissions system, I believe.
+1 - The thing is there to supposedly capture any excess emissions that may find their way into the intake tract WHEN THE CAR IS OFF. Go figure....

We need them to keep us in check. just think what we would end up doing to our cars, if they didn't throw the sensible card on the table every now and then.

The one warning is that the air sensor may need to adjust.

When I ditched the second filter and installed a K@N filter, I had stalling for a few weeks during idling.

I just recharged my K@N filter, and the stalling returned.

It does restrict air flow, I believe pretty significantly. If you look at the HP increase of the Dinan cold air intake (17hp), a portion of that is due to no charcoal filter.

I installed the Dinan cold air intake and throttle body, but did not notice any abnormal idling or stalling. The computers do adjust to changes, so I can see that being a possibility.

The one thing I was always concerned about when I had K&N filters is the possibility of too much oil getting on to the air sensor. Could this be the problem?

Mel is keeping US in check?? She's modding just like the rest of us! Also I live in a house of only females, and I'm yet to see a "sensible card" ANYWHERE around my house!! In direct contrast to Mel around here, at my house, I'm an island of testosterone in a vast sea of estrogen!!
