Hi,
Recently purchased my 08' 550i CPO, great car, but still discovering missing and broken things.
One is - fog light adjustment screw, can's seem to find its part number, asked people in my local BMW dealer part dept - they could not figure out either.
I tried realoem.com, but the screw is not seem to be a part of fog light or front bumper diagram.
Anybody here can help?

 

well if its cpo, wont bmw take care of it?

 

by the way..i have ,,8k hid on my fog lights..from a year now...

lately the right fog light start going off(with error on the i-drive...right fog light mulfunction) after i turn(pres) fog light on...and then i have to turn it off and back on and will stay on...

and from the past 3 days...the left one dont come on..anymore(i still have the error on i-drive...left..fog light mulfunction)...but it does not come on anymore...
only if the auto button for headlight is on...but after...5 minutes or so the left fog light come off...

so what could be..?/?

 

I'm having the same issue, with either the left or right fog at times. When I turn on my fogs, they will both run fine, then after some time one will go out then I get the idrive notification. If I turn them off for a minute then back on, they both work fine again. What gives?

 

Well, when I purchased the car I noted steering shimmy and they promised to fix it. Eventually I had to pay myself for wheel balance and they found a bent rim. The seller now refuses to replace it saying I bent it myself. I know I did not.
I bet same gonna happen to the missing stuff like this screw, they will just say I lost it _after_ they sold it.

BTW, I have another missing screw from under the hood, which secures plastic piece covering brake fluid tank. Anybody can help me identify that one? It's a torx screw. It seems like this one is 17117510907 from "Microfilter/housing parts" diagram, but not sure.

I have the same problem. I'm thinking it's either a bad cancellor(capacitor) or its the ballast.

Cheap ballast, replace it, You are very lucky if they last much more than a year.

 

as far as i know, you cant just buy the adjustment screw. the fog light comes complete as an assembly.

 

+1 failing ballast for sure. You can buy any one of the ones they sell on eBay and swap them. I recommend the slim digital ballasts vs. the normal ones. They all have the universal plug. If you look hard enough, you will find some sellers who have been in business for a while and provide a decent warranty.
