I know my car is brand new but whenever I come to either an abrupt stop or come to a light the downshifts aren't smooth. In fact, tonight it felt like the car wanted to stall out. I had the same problem on my 540i as well. Do you think this could be a software issue? Has anyone had this problem before? Thanks!

I have the same issue on my 550i as well. I've taken it to the dealer and they supposedly reprogramed something. However, the problem went away for about a day before it came back. I'm going to send it back again soon. Apparently it's a known issue with some 550i, at least from what I've read on this board anyway.

I never had this problem in my E60 540i.

My mom currently drives a 2004 E500. The car is not a BMW, in every aspect. From driving, speed, acceleration, brakes, steering it is in another world. However, I do like the turning radius on the MB better then the BMW. Now, on my 2007 550i, that takes the cake from everything else. Yes, I do work for BMW but I have driven everything else on the market from Audi to Lexus and nothing drives like a BMW. I have been with this company for over 6 years now and I must say that they really do build The Ultimate Driving Machine.

Does anyone think I should even bother service with the issue?

if what you are experiencing is a slight jolt sometimes when the step tranny downshifts, it may not be anything more than the torque-converter disengaging, which is normal...

I feel it sometimes too with my car, but I don't think it's anything major to worry about.
