Has anyone seen an official 550 0 - 60 time outside the official BMW 5.4 w/ MT?

No big 3 auto mag results out yet. I mentioned an official result from Germany earlier--as I recall. I looked back and could not find the German mag results. I must have posted them on another thread. I'll look for the thread later.

I saw a 0-60 time in either EVO or CAR that was 5.3.

FYI, with my 545 i am racing with Porches, last time i could easily beat a carrera 911.

Is that true? I thought that C 911 is much faster than the 545i? I'm almost certain, but in real life, it depends on the driver and conditions. I think and predict that where the 550i will edge over the 545i is in the high speed range, like from 80-130 mph. In Houston, we have the freeways to hit 100+ mph in many places. It just depends on traffic condition and time of day.

I, too, drive above the speed limit only to avoid blind spots and traveling in packs. This way, I am more alert and proactive and not blocking others who in an emergency.

Starke Kaliber gives 5.5 for 0 to 62 for a Steptronic 550i. When I do a straight-line extrapolation, which should yield a slightly slow 0 to 60 time, I get (60 / 62.14) X 5.5 = 5.31--which is only about .2 secs. faster that BMW's claim. But, who knows how the mag's results will compare to the US mag results? Regardless, its results would imply about 5.2 for the manual/SMG, and, about 5.3 for the Steptronic.

Evo gives 5.7 to 60 for the 750i. Through November 2005 Evo had not tested the 550i.

Beat Carerra's with a 545i? Was that the issue? If so, then:

Porsche 05 911 Carerra S MT 1/05 4.20 12.60 111.10
Porsche 05 911 Carerra S C&D 11/04 4.10 12.60 112.00
Porsche 911 Carerra C&D 12/04 4.30 12.80 109.00
Porsche 911 Carerra GT MT 10/04 3.60 11.10 133.40
Porsche 911 Carerra GT C&D 6/04 3.50 11.20 132.00
Porsche 911 Carerra S Coupe R&T 3/05 3.90 12.30 114.80

If you have enough money to buy & run a 550i, then buy rather the M5 ! It's so much exciting to drive ! So beautiful exclusive car ... And the M5 will keep more value when you want to resell it !
Here in Belgium, our problems are taxes & fuel price !

Wake up! Wake up! You're still dreaming. Vnod, thanks for the post. I knew those 911 (regardless of version) are super quick. Even a 550i won't hang with a 911 at the upper speeds.
