It is just a steptronic with paddle shifters. It is not an SMG like the M3 or M5.

You can have your hands in a natural (and comfortable) driving position and shift up or down with no problem whatsoever.

Cal, Rudy is correct (see above). I also thought the downshift paddle was the only way to downshift/upshift. I didn't realize the upshift was behind the steering wheel...I guess I was too excited to drive and forgot to read the manual.

I'm not finding the paddles as intuitive as manually shifting with the console shifter , I 've been caught a few times running the revs up out of the whole due to manually downshifting and forgetting either put it back in D or manually shift( I gotta turn the stereo down
). I love the Sport setting when driving in D, it holds the shift points much higher and longer....... this is a much nicer tranny than my 07 had .

I think I have the same gearbox on my diesel....
And I have not find the use of the paddles, the SAT is good, much better then the steptronic in my old car. But as said, in sport mode, the car does a much better job then me shifting?
Or is it because I've not been on a track, only highway drivning?
