Those are his exact same words. I keep on telling him, im about to do this to the car and that. And he ends up saying. U SHOULD Thank god u are fotunate enough to have an E60 and stop modding it and concentrate on ur studies. When uve graduated( next year as a Civil Engineer), then u can buy whatever u want,whenever u want, however u want.Till then, focus and STUDY STUDY STUDY!!! Would xDrive with DSC keep me from spinning out/sliding better than just DSC alone?
In the absence of the above requirements, the i is the better performing car in winter with properly equipped winter tires ... less weight means a shorter stopping distance.

just my 2 cents.
I live in toronto, winter is a harsh season here, lots of precipitation.
I drive a 530i with winter tires, and it doesnt seem to grip as well as a suv with all-season tires.
So yeah, i really wished i owned a xi instead. i dont know how the weather is in Colorado but if its not as hardcore as toronto, perhaps an 530i with winter tires would do.

My "old" 530xi ruled in the snow. It was to snow what the M5 is to speed. The BMW DSC is awesome. My rear would slide out in a long turn, up an incline, and the DSC would pull it right back in line. I think it's a no-brainer living in Colorado to get an xi. And btw, my all-seasons kicked ass! I never need snows, and we got some serious snow this winter!
