The vid you posted has a different outcome (335 wins) than another vid that was posted by a member here who has a 545i 6speed (545i wins) against his brother in a 335. It all goes to show you that a lot of the times it's about the driver and not the car.

I'd love for a 335 to show up for one of our Launch Meets. Going to the link you provided to e90post, I'm hoping that a 335 will show up for another Meet invite believing that he will blow the doors off a 545.

If the 335i started in 2nd gear it would have the advantage as the steptronic 545i looks to be in 3rd gear around 50mph. Check the beginning of the video

This would have been the same outcome if it were a 545i Step against a 545i 6speed/SMG. The manuals can hold their gears up to 60 mph in 2nd whereas the Step will automatically upshift for you to third. I bet you with either you or I driving a 545i 6speed or SMG the outcome would have been different against the 335.

seems to be that the 545 driver wasnt concentrating at all.. cam in his hand,, you can hear the start of the race the 3 beeps, about a second of waiting then you can hear the v8 reving, his reaction was too slow by the time he locked up the 335 pulled away good... even if it was a steptronic, that doesnt seem to ME to be the proper out come...

didnt watch this vid yet, but I wouldnt even need to, to know the 335 can beat the v8 (the original post was mine) was my brothers 3rd day with the car and even given his inability to properly launch the 3, I could tell by the way he caught up to me revving through 3rd gear that the 335 is def faster.

No disagree that from a dig that the 335 in most cases will beat a 545. I believe that from a 60 mph rolling launch that the outcome would be in favor of the 545. No way of knowing until we can get a 335 6speed up against either a 545i 6speed or SMG.

Hmmm...i'm not that sure...remember the flat torque curve of the 335i. Aprox 400NM are more than enough to move that car quicker than the 545i from a roll...but indeed we need a test to be sure. A good one like those on the m5board.

I had a 335i Coupe as a loaner last Saturday for about an hour and half and let me tell you that car is awesome It was a 6 speed and on the freeway dropping to 3rd and 4th at high speed and nailing it, it felt ALOT faster than my 545i/6!

When I got back to the dealer I found my longtime salesman and asked about allocations! It was grey with red leather - killer!

Oh, the wife would kill me - but I'm thinking nice 3rd car, hold the mileage down on the 545i!
