you will be offered around 14-15 k tops on trade... good way to check KBB Trade in FAIR CONDITION and deduct about another 10%

definitely try to sell it privately because as for trade in, dealer will take the low side of trade in value. You can try to bring it Carmax to get it appraised so you know how much you can get then sell it privately above that price, give or take some room for negotiation. KBB is just there for reference but it also depends on what type of vehicle. People prefer to by a used Honda or Toyota since maintenance is much cheaper than a BMW.

kBB is way off, dealers always say it's inflated. $15k range for this car. Cars got 20-30 % value left at this point

Autotrader will just tell you what people are asking for their cars, not what they're selling for. Better to look at Ebay's completed auctions; you will see what cars sold for and what they didn't sell for. If your car is Olivine Green that will reduce what it will sell for.
