Let us know the outcome... I'm interested in how much you'll beat the G35c 298hp car by.

Interesting... thx for your opinions... especially from swajames who used to own a 2k4 model... got curious cause i was reading some posts on the e46 site and they was some debate as to whether or not the new e90 330i could take it...
i've had my 545i for about a month now... still slowly breaking it in... still.. hard to keep the revs low.
i did get tempted by this dood in a 330cic at a stoplight... squeeked the wheels going into 2nd and stopped... so hard to keep the revs low... =]

The G35 manual comes with the engine tuned for 298 hp. It also loses 10 lb-ft of torque compared to the the 280-hp version. (260 lb-ft vs. 270 lb-ft).
The G35 is a good performance value, but comparing it to a 545i is not really fair. The 545 costs about $20-30k more depending on options and with a significantly larger, torquier engine, it's in a different class. And, to answer your question, the 545i would be noticeably faster from a stoplight.

545i--LBs/HP = about 3,814/325 = 11.74 and
IS350--lbs./HP = about 3,600/306 = 11.76.
There are a number of much less expensive autos that are good competition for the 545i in addition to the Lexus IS350. Below are some cars that, as I recall, are not more expensive than the 545i. A number of them are much less expensive than the 545i. Some values are missing.
