I have a 545i with 46k miles on it. Recently I've noticed that it idles a litte rough. While the car is in neutral and if you rev it to exactly 2k, it feels like the motor is shaking a little bit. I don't know what it could be. A motor mount? Oh, and you can't feel it while driving at all. It still pulls through the entire RPM range. It's really bugging me. Any advice?

Thanks guys.

If thats not it then it's prob the motor mounts or the lifters going bad.

I think this is normal. My 545i also has shaking at random RPMs. Beemers weren't really designed for smooth running. If that's what you really want, then get a Lexus.

For some reason this comes to mind for a rough idling N62. The diaphragm in item 13 goes bad or gets sticky and causes a vacuum issue.
Maybe a V8 owner will chime in and clarify.

Thank you for the response. It's weird because I can't feel it while I'm driving but only with revving it in neutral.

I did notice that you said these motors take 8 quarts of oil. When I asked the dealer, they told me 8.5 quarts. It might be slightly overfilled. I wonder if I take some oil out, maybe this problem will go away. I'll have to try it out.

Lol I thought the same thing when I read that too. When you're paying upwards of 70k for a car, it better not randomly vibrate and shake.
