Default 545i exhaust

Has anyone done a center muffler delete only on a stock exhaust?

What are you trying to fix or accomplish?
if you're trying to get a louder exhaust note, the center delete doesn't do much. The rear muffler will still keep it pretty quiet.

Trying to liven it up a bit under acceleration. ....have now seen where the 650i w same engine does a center muffler delete...replace front resonators with x pipe and stock mufflers and the sound at idle and crusing is nominal change 5% increase but under acceleration its f1 awesome....have already done golf tee mod so both mufflers are in play....and throttle response is better

Glad this post was brought up. Been wanting a throatier exhaust myself. This looks like an inexpensive solution to get a cooler sound. Not looking for Mustang loud, just something a little more authoritative that the family sedan sound it puts out now.

Anyone know if the solenoid is connected to electronics anywhere in the system? My concern is leaving it open could cause some issues.

Have had solenoid for second muffler open for months now and no issues...looks like im gonna leave front resonators in place followed by a new x pipe with straight pipes back to each muffler.....

Golf tee mod for the e60 5 series is done by removing the drivers side tail light cover in the trunk and locating the vacuum lines and solenoid near the tail light....get a universal vacuum line connector from AutoZone $2.50... pull both lines from the solenoid ...they can be tough...use pliers if need be.....then use the universal connector and connect the lines together....this will keep both mufflers in play every time you turn the key
