Hey, at least you could get into your car after the battery died. I was completely locked out.

Well I finally called road-side assitance and had my car serviced. It turns out that I have/had a "faulty" battery (somehow it lasted 29 months and 26,800 miles!) and the service bulletin posted above was also a cause. I should have the car back by Friday.

I have enjoyed driving the 545i a great deal for the past 19 months but when I return my car on Oct 13, I won't miss all of the electronic issues one bit!

Now what do I get next? If I get a car this year it may be

- Audi S6

If I wait until next year or so

- Audi S8
- Refreshed BMW 5 Series

We'll see.

Nope.
Yes.
The power is monitored, and when the system recognizes that there is a leak/loss, then all systems will be shut down by the computer to preserve enough power for one more start, so that you can drive away and visit the dealer.
That's one of the reasons the car wakes up from its sleep mode sometimes, to measure everything.

Smart car.

Those krauts sure are crafty.
