Had them fix it in Rome.? That left me with buffeting at 60mph.? They fixed it at US redelivery the chrome A pillar molding.? Now the buffeting is back.?? No whistle all the way to 145mph, thats as fast as I have gone.

Thumbs up

The new 750i will probably still lag behind the 545i but not by much though.

The 550i will at most be half a second quicker in 0 to 60mph and .7 seconds 0 to 100mph but we shall soon find out for sure.

Why would BMW want to cannibalize the New M5 sales with a super quick 550i?

The new m3 and new m5 should be neck and neck if history repeats itself.

Not from a roll, and probably not any straight-line run. The M5 will have superior power to weight numbers. But on a track, I agree, because of it's more aggressive tuning and lighter weight, the M3 is the one to drive.

I'm from Canada, so I'm no expert, but in the US, I heard somewhere that Montana doesn't have a speed limit? Is that true, and if so, I might have to make a road trip down to see how it feels pinning my 5er?

No, they got rid of that in 1996 because the federal government was going to take away funding.
On the flip side, the roads are not busy and when they do ticket you it is very cheap.

Conditions:

- 20 degrees centigrade ( 68F )
- A4 autobahn near Aachen
- medium traffic....couldn't get a 0-260 time in. Next time.
- 2 runs 0-100 ( 0-62mph ) - 2nd run was better.
- 1 high speed run

Conclusion : too easy....get the Vmax speed restriction lifted?

Enjoy!!

Andy545,

Did you come to a full stop on the Autobahn to do your timed runs?
Or did you pull out from a parking lot or the "Standstreifen"?
Anyway, isn't that a little dangerous?

Is it still very cheap if they catch you doing 155+?

They might not like 155 I remember passing a police officer at 110 mph which in the US is huge!!! I believe the law stated "reasonable speed" at the officers discretion.
When they went back to speed limits 20 mph over was around $40.

Yep, full stop as indicated by the videos...stopping for a few seconds in between a
'dead' spot on the highway was no problem. In the second run I was entering via a ramp, no-one behind....was easy to stop.
