I was told that the 530 gets roughly 25-26 mpg on the freeway and that the 545 gets about 17-18 mpg on the freeway. Can anyone second these numbers?

I am looking at either ordering a 2006 530 or purchasing a 2004 545. The extra power is nice of course but I drive approximately 150 miles/day. Is the 545 worth it?

I get mid 20's in my 545 on the highway. The 6 gears help you manimize mileage

At 9200 miles, for every drop of fuel consumed, I had 21.3 mpg actual versus 22.3 OBC on my 545 SMG. I seem to get 22-24+ on the freeway depending on driving style. Can get the OBC above 28 mpg on an extended run if I absolutely behave myself and act my age. Mileage seems to have taken a dip for some strange reason since the Remus exhaust was installed.

I can't speak for the 530, but I have some very accurate measurements of my gas mileage vs average speed in my 545. It ranges from 15 mpg for an average speed of 25 mph to 25 mpg for an average speed of 70 mph. So, hwy mileage is at least 25 mpg. It should be more at a higher speed (as Iceman claims).

18 mpg for normal daily use at my 1200mls stage (some, but not so many aggressive gas hits).

Don't forget those in the USA will show a lower MPG than Europe as the Imperial Gallon (Europe) is 20% bigger than a US gallon.

Your sig doesn't show your location so if you are in europe just add 20% to any US figures or if in US x0.8 any Euro mpg figures.

I have a heavy right foot so get around 16mpg around town and short congested fwy commute.

For those in the US make sure your OBC is set to US gallons as mine wasn't and I thought I was getting 19mpg until a software update and setting was switched from Imperial to US gallon.

I was getting 13.8 L/100 km during the break-in period but now I get 14.0 L /100 km. because of a more aggresive driving style. I am not sure how to convert that to mpg.

19 around town
24 on the autobahn @ around 75 mph average speed
Speeds above 120 mph have a huge impact and mpg drops into the high teens. I've seen tanks as low a 17 mpg. You can almost see the gas gauge going down.

We had a former member with a 525 who was getting even less than me so the 530 is probably the best choice unless they bring the oil burner to the states. 150 miles a day screams diesel doesn't it?
