Hey gang, I've got a 545 on order to replace my wife's 2001 Seville, but am getting a little concerned about the "slam" that I've seen discussed over the last week or so -- particularly since I seem to remember a couple of posts saying the software update did not solve the issue. I'd like to see how many of our 545 owners have this issue. Let us know if a software update solved the issue as well.

Thanks!

Same engine/tranny combo as 545 w/step. Happened only once as I got to a red light that changed to green before I came to a full stop. Have had other occasions after that where I kinda expected the same thing to happen but it did not. I am 15.2 now and should be 16.2 by COB today. Will c if I can duplicate again. But so far so rare as to be almost inconsequential

My problem with the slamming didn't start until after CIP 16.2 was installed on my car, so I don't think a simple CIP upgrade is going to fix the problem. Now it is a weekly occurence whereas it didn't happen the two weeks I owned the car prior to the CIP update.

I love the car, but this morning I was a nervous wreck driving in start/stop freeway traffic. With the force that my car delivers during a slam, it could lay quite a dent in another car.

This did happen to me, but only once. That was enough - I nearly crapped myself as I thought I had been hit or had hit something

From what I have been hearing, I can't beleive you guys are still driving the car around.
Take it back, and demand to be fixed. Someone is going to get hurt.

Maybe contact BMW as a group and voice your concerns.

I'm getting upgraded to 16.3 this week in hopes of eliminating the slam. It is infrequent, but really annoying/scary when it happens. It really feels like getting rear ended.

I have had this problem 3 times in the last week, twice being yesterday. The "slam" is very viloent, very much like a nuetral drop.

I am not sure what version software I have, but I have not had an upgrade since I had BT installed in November.

Car is going in Thursday for this very issue.

Wow. I know this is not a statistically well targeted poll, but I will admit to being a bit shocked that we're looking at about 40% with over 25 votes.

I am truly worried and am considering cancelling my 545 order to wait this problem out and then reorder later this year or next.
