545 Steering - Recirculating Ball or Rack & Pinion

My Ride: '05 545i - scheduled for ED pickup in Munich on 7/22!
On the old 5 Series (E39), the I6 models had rack and pinion while the V8 models had recirculating ball (including the M5 I believe). While the steering in the V8 models were fine, the I6 models' rack and pinion steering were known to give just a touch more on-center feel.
