My E39 has problems starting when hot, but thats because of the Nikasil block. The bores are wearing away and there is less compression when hot. I doubt this is the problem with your car though I hope not anyway.

When it struggles to start, is it usually after its only been switched on for a couple of minutes? Maybe your flooding the engine?

When my engine is hot (after some driving, when it reaches it's normal working temp), there's something strange going on with the ignition process.

When I start the engine, I see that it does start instantly (RPM pointer goes up), but the starter keeps working, like it did not know that the engine is running already.

It happens only when engine is hot and from time to time.

Oh right, is your car a push button start? Or a normal key?

Your sure your not keeping the key turned for too long after the engine has sparked?
