So, the 545 has an oil dipstick and no oil level indicator in the idrive.

My question is, does the idrive have a 'warning low oil - please top up' or similar in the 545.

The manual says that there is one, but I am not sure if it is specifically for the 545.

I would like to know, as looking at the dipstick doesn't give me a very clear reading on how much oil is in the engine.

Yes it does. My 545 was built January 2004 and I have had the iDrive warning a couple of times over the course of 3 1/2 years of ownership.

Yes it does... i've gotten that error couple times before now.... and mostly from after an oil change. the dealer has consistantly under filled my oil and the iDrive yells at me half way home and I yell back at the dealer the next day.
