545 engine - noisy on startup

I reported the same problem/noise twice. Most recently even cited the above SIB. They keep telling me it's normal. It's such a slight tapping, I am inclined to agree with them. I suspect that Valvetronic levers add a bit of noise and that is all it is. In any case I now have the noise well documented, so if it turns out to be something serious I can go after them to repair it since it was previously reported while still under warranty.

If it a light very regular tapping or ticking it probably is normal. If the ticking is irregular, varies in loudness while idling, it could be the AC compressor. The tech should be able to identify it as compressor noise using a noise detection tool (like a long thin screw driver without a handle.

Mine has been to the dealers today - faulty compressor diagnosed. Will be replaced on the 12th April, along with a new CCC module and Progman update
