I would never buy a car where the engine is that "young".

Just a quick update, SA just called to say that my car will not be ready until Thursday now......The original estimate was 1-2 days, Thursday will make it two weeks.? I'm really hoping that this valve train repair will solve the "tapping" noise from the valvetrain.? Something just doesn't feel right about this whole issue.? First they were to replace all the valve levers, then one side, no all again.? They indicate that BMW is directing the tech...does this sound right?

Just frustrated.....car only has 5,000 miles.... :'(

Hmmm...so they're replacing the valves just on the argument of "tapping noise''
and not the rough running as stated in the bulletin. Correct?
I mean I can hear the tapping as well between 1500-2200rpm - but I'm wondering if I need this and the dealer will cover me under the pretext of that bulletin
Anyway, mine is not excessive or anything - as I mentioned my chief mechanic stated it's normal for Valvtronic engines, but I'm concerned now....

Anyone else with a 545i can hear a definite valve tapping under load 1500-2200rpm, usually cold engine?? You need to have a quiet cockpit and focus on hearing the engine.
More feedback would be appreciated, next time you start your 545i.

TIA

Yes, I can hear it on mine even after the car is up to operating temp. Just another issue to add to the list!
