Yepp....it happened....my car started to do a delay crank....I took it to BMW in Pittsburgh and they said that it needed an updated software package...My car is an 08....They did that, they are going to cold start tomm. If it still has the problem, they are doing a HPFP swap....I am 5k from end of warranty....What should I do?

the hpfp is covered for 10 yrs/100K miles, so you won't have to extend that...but i would still pick up an extended warranty for everything else once your current one expires...

That is what the rumor is. My service advisor told me if you get the latest re-program and then subsequently get an HPFP replacement you should be fine. But who knows.... I am on my third HPFP.

The latest pumps are not trouble free , but rather a reduced rate of failure.
It is well documented ,and I've had 3 differnt dealers service dpts tell me the same thing.
the 10yr 120k warenty is still going on the N54...

Rahal in south hills is the dealer...
They decided to not do HPFP...They did the latest software update and said they have to wait if it has problems again. If it does, they will do the pump. The warranty is 3500$. It doesn't seem worth it. Even if something major breaks, thats 38 hours of work at 90$ hour shop rate not counting parts. You could do a motor swap in less hours than that. Its a damned if you do or dont type of thing I guess.
