Unfortunately with all the reports of the 535's HPFP woes, this is no surprise to me. I sure hope that the TT V8 does not have a similar problem because whether in F10 550 or F10 M5 form, that's almost certainly my next engine.

I just think it is ridiculous that BMW has not solved the problem yet. The 535's TT I6 engine is awesome in terms of power and tractability. It is insane that BMW has let this mechanical issue go on for so long (yes I am aware of the 120K warranty on the HPFP but that is cold comfort if your beloved E60 is in the shop time and again due to multiple failures of this POS part).

yeah. My car is going in for the HPFP replacement. it cranks for about 10 seconds before starting now, i have to gas it pretty good to keep it from stalling, then when i put it in drive the "engine malfunction: reduced power" comes on. i have to shut the car off and back on and it fixes itself. I am making an appointment this week.

based on the latest spy shot of the F10, i think my next car will be an F10 550 (or equivilant) 409 HP TT V8.

Sorry to hear that Craig. Yes that sounds like the symptoms of a HPFP failure.

The F10 550 is going to be a beast. I bet it will be easy to turn up the boost with a little bit of tuning and wring 500 plus BHP out of that engine -- making it as fast as the E60 M5.

Just get home safe if you do go to one of the war zones for your work.

Well I've never had a problem with my xi so to me, it's the most reliable car. To those that have had problems: oh well. I'm sure an Acura RL breaks down just as much as any other car. BMW topped the reliabilty charts in 08 ( it was fourth or fifth) but now something happened, and it may be those hpfp. Mines still going on strong so...

It's good to hear that your HPFP is going strong. I am sure that most of them don't fail just like most smokers actually do not get lung cancer. The challenge for BMW with this engine in this car is that an unacceptably high percentage of them are failing or have failed.

As much as I really hate to admit it, my 535XI has been to the dealer for warranty work more than any other car I've owned since my 1987 Buick Grand National, which by the way, was the worst piece of junk known to man. In my first year of ownership for the Bimmer, it has been back to the dealer 4 times, and the transmission slam is still not fixed.
