I am thinking of replacing my E39 (1999 5-series wagon) with a 2008 535xi or 535xit. I know the preference between the wagon and the sedan is a personal choice, but has anyone experienced both of these vehicles? Do the seats fold down on the sedan?
Also, I am at a loss as to what the A stands for on the 535xia. I see model options of 535xi, xia and xit.
Thanks!

PS ... BMW Prefers to refer to the "wagon" as a Touring ... Think of it as a BMW Sedan with additional cargo capacity.

Do the seats fold down on the sedan? Yes ... Available as an "option".

Thanks for the info on the A. But does that mean all the others shown are manual? Or does that mean they just arent triptronic?
My apologies for my ignorance.

It means that some dealers add the "A" just for clarification. Its not a term used by everybody. I believe all automatics are tiptronic but some may be Sport as well.
