My Ride: 2011 535I X-Drive - Space Grey / Black Dakota / M-Sport / Sport Auto Transmission with Paddles / Premium I / Premium II / Cold Weather
Gone: 2010 535I - Alpine White / Black / Sport, Premium & Cold Weather Packages / Anthracite liner / Sport Auto with Paddle Shifters / Navigation / Satellite, HD & I-pod
Gone: 2006 530XI - Monaco Blue / Creme Leather
Looking for opinions! Advantages of a in transit 2010 535I over an in stock 2009 535I production date of @10-08. Both cars are Sport Package with NAV and similar options. With all incentives, reduced net cost due to value package and differences in 60 month finance rates (2.9% BMW finance on the 2010 / $5000 dealer cash and credit union finance rate of 3.9%), the net difference cost wise is about $2400.
The problem is delivery time line. The 2009 could be delivered this week, when I am selling my 2006 530XI privately, or waiting for the 2010 which is produced, but not yet on the transport ship to the US. Dealer originally indicated about two week wait, now they are hedging indicating late August, maybe the first week of December.
Because I use the vehicle for business, I'll have to rent or if I'm lucky, get a dealer loaner. I've hinted, but they have not yet offered knowing I can put 1500 - 2000 miles on the car over a few weeks. They are giving me a very good deal on the 2010, so I wasn't pushing the loaner hard.
Beyond the obvious that the 2009 is a model year old and has been sitting a long time, were there mid production changes in later 2009's? I seem to recall the I-Drive being improved mid-year; I know the 2010 is a definite improvement.
thanks!

i believe the new i-drive is a huge improvement over the 09.
the F-10 will be hitting showrooms in just over a year from now, depending on how much you want to pay for the better i-drive, i think i would go with the better deal.
09, 10, tomato, tomah-to. it is the same thing once the F-10s hit the street (except for the idrive )

+1 take the incentive and get the 09. Unless you really want the new iDrive. Besides, there is a long wait between late August and 1st week of December. If time is money, then there is a lot of money.

Thanks for feedback...huge typo on my original post - should be late August of first week of September delivery for the 2010!
You are all so right, the waiting is tough!
I really admire those of you that can wait for a factory order to your specs.

That being said, I find the 2009 iDrive (the old, DVD based unit) to be painfully slow, especially in nav mode. The new iDrive is a big leap forward.
