Hello All,
Helping my sister look into buying an 08' 535i with prem/sports pkg. Currently I have an 07 530i and other than the engine/rims/tails/shift knob, it looks pretty similar to my car.
I'm aware of the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) failure issue. If I am not mistaken, I researched in the forum that it is 120k/10year warranty. This should apply regardless of ownership right(1st or 2nd owner) and free of charge?
Anything else that I should take into consideration? Thank you for your inputs in advance.
Slightly jealous that my little sister will have a faster car. On that note, I need to start modding my car.

BMW dealer will replace bad high-pressure fuel pump REGARDLESS and FREE. Had HPFP issue with my 2008 535xi about 6 months ago . . . Took them 4!(four) day thought 535 - much faster car, compare to 530 . . . There is the forum about it(I agree 100% with the guys) - there is no point to modify 530 to be comparable with 535 - to much money and work! More reasonable just upgrade to 535 or 550.

535 would be fun to drive. Test driven a 335i and loved it.

When I took my car in because of HPFP symptoms I didn't get my car back until 23 days later, sucked @ss how long it took but so far the new model HPFP has held up ok. We'll see how it does 6 months from now.

Yeah I saw your post and all the HPFP posts on the forum. 23 days is ridiculous man. Other than that, all good right?

Now that its been recently confirmed that the CPO warranty does NOT cover electronics - I wouldn't feel comfortable making payments on a CPO BMW with this kind of risk exposure. Just my .02.
Other than that, the 535i is a solid car.

Why would you even think of putting your dear sister into a car thats has known issues
IMHO - Get the 550, that engine is STRONG with none major issues. Also, the difference between the 550 cpo and the 535 cpo would not be much since you would be looking into depreciated numbers here. Find a good deal and be proud to have really helped your sister with something you know would stay home more than it would stay at the stealership.
As for the 530i we both have; I am happy I dont have a 535 with issues.
My next car would surely be an F10 550 ( (I think the F10's are not as good looking as the E60's but its growing on me), so saving up for it rather than throwing away my money on power mods.
Good luck buddy!

We started with a 528i with navi/sports/prem pkg and didn't even consider the 535i. Looked on-line within 100mi radius for 2008 CPOs and found the following with the options that she wants:
- 528i $33.7k (30k miles): lowest priced, this is when I started looking into the 535i just for the heck of it and found,
- 535i $29.6K (44k miles): lowest priced. Then I started reading about the HPFP potenital issues. Still debating on...
Anyhow, agreed - 530i is a fantastic car and I love it. F10 550i would be nice - I need some time to get used to it too.
Still looking for the right car for my lil sis... I appreciate everyone's inputs!
