<_<
Given that BMW has announced a 535d model with a twin-turbo and 272hp (or so), does this mean that the future "535i" will finally give some merit to the old twin-turbo rumor that we had heard some time ago?
And if the diesel engine is a 3.0 liter motor, wouldn't a 535i have in the neighborhood of 300hp???? What does this mean then, for the future of the 545i, if performance will probably be fairly close?
Anyone's thoughts?

Hey Rich
I also saw the article on the new Turbo Diesel 535 and it also put questions in my head about our upcomming 535 model. The 545 is supposed to get a bump in HP when the face lifted 7 series comes out and from what I read some time ago it will be close to 400 HP. Now with that in mind I don't see why the North American 535i can't have at least 280 HP. With that amount of HP and weight distribution the 535i will be the model to get.

hi,
so, is that mean later on the 530i will be 535i?
if this is happen again to me, I will be upset.
because my last car is 328i, then after i bought few months later, 328i become 330i.
I don't know why i am upset about, but it seem unfair.
please correct my thinking. haha..

I believe that BMW did take out a patent for the "550i" designation.
It must be something we haven't seen yet, 'cause I doubt that they would stuff a detuned version of the 750Li's V12 in there.
However, I'm sure that the 530i will remain & become the lowest model available for the E60. With Valvetronic added, the hp of the 3.0 engine alone should go up by at least 15 hp.

where did you here that the 545i was due for a power upgrade and do you mean the 550i or do you mean a revised 545i model??
only ask because I will shortly be placing an order for a 545i and would hate to be out gizzmo'd just after purchase!

I am fairly sure that when the refreshed 7 series commes out it will have a upgraded motor. It should pump out close to 375HP. I can not recall my source but if you don't believe me check on roadfly.
