On Saturday while accelerating got the infamous engine malfunction icon in the dash and the reduced power message on I-drive. Tach went from 2K to about 4K. Pulled over and shut off engine and restarted. Icon and message went away. Yesterday, same icon and message appeared while going to work. Aborted work route and dropped car at dealer. HPFP replaced today and all is well. 25K mi on odo. -933 p/n HPFP installed. Had the DME reprogrammed back in July which fixed the long cranking issues that had developed. Running fine till Saturday.

It's a two step process now. Apparently a bunch of good HPFP's were replaced due to bad LPFP's. First, the LPFP output is checked and its output tested for maintaining pressure. If it passes, the DME is programmed to pressurize the fuel system early when a door is opened with the engine off. After reprogramming if there are further issues, the HPFP gets replaced.
