Autocar reports that the 335i (3.0l turbo) is coming - Will it make the 5?

The range could be soon 523i, 525i, 530i, 535i, 540i & 550i?

What sort of diesel does that run on then

Is it because there will be a 335d too.

Those following the news know that the rumoured bi-turbo 535 has been comming for 3 years... IMO, don't expect it, in 3 or 5 series varients, probably ever.

I very much doubt it will make the 5 as it will be similar in power characteristics to the bigger engined cars...so there's not much point. No one (including the dealers) seems entirely sure why they are making this car but it is definitely coming along with the 335d. The only reason for it is perhaps that they are going to push the M3 further up in terms of price and performance and thus can see a whole in the range.
