I know what you mean man. This is my 3rd '08 5 series and this 535 has been giving me major electronic issues. After turning my engine off, my car whines. Another employee told me thats it some kind of intake valve or something.

Guys, The 535 doesn't tick or make weird noises. Insist to speak to a BMW"NA" Service Tech not just the dealer. You can call BMWNA directly yourself if your dealer won't. You don't list your state/country but the US has lemon laws that are very specific. I have had two thing elevated to a PUMA case (A BMW thingy, forgot what it stands for) on my 545 where they get the mother company involved in the diagnostics, which is what was needed.

+1 Our 535 has almost 10,000mls on it, no noise, no problems except nail in Rt. rear twice, replaced no charge under wheel & tire plan.

This sounds like some of the same types of problems I encountered with my 07 550. I would step up the pressure to BMWNA because it sounds like your dealer is not responding responsibly........ BMW make lemons every once in a while so don't let the car die on you on a fast freeway or other dangerous situation before you have bigger problems to deal with . I've been there it's not fun. These cars should be fun and trouble fee

Good Luck

Sorry to hear about your issues.
Have had my 535 since October - No creaks, ticks, rattles or whines of any kind.

Good luck!

Mine does too, but it stops within 15 seconds or so (I think that's when it goes to sleep). Car seems fine otherwise, so it's no biggie to me.

I think it's just sad to be back in the garage.
