No offence taken! However, the headline figure of 14hp/20Nm increase is nice but doesn't fully represent the full changes... The lighter block and improved injection helps all-round and the low-end torque is further enhanced. Ok, the current 535d is great, but the new one will be even better. I just think it's wise to know of impending changes and make a decision fully informed.
All the italian car magazines that actually road-tested the new 286 hp 3.0l twinturbo diesel (installed under the bonnet of the new X3) pointed out the big and very noticeable improvements over the current version. Much more refined, quietier and with a marked gasoline-like behaviour (smoothness) compared to the 272 hp version. According to one journalist, it's such a good engine that puts into question why should anybody buy a 3.0 l gasoline version., that he feels inferior to the diesel in any respect.

Thanks colejl,

Is so so tempting. What would you guys think we could part ex it for next year, say if we put 10k on it and then go for a 535d sport around May/June 2007.

Cheers and thanks for the help!
Aint no expert on depreciation but just had a word with a contact at a finance company who deal in fleet cars and he thinks after a year and if under 14k miles you should easily get back ?32-34k. Anything more than this would be a bonus

Hi,
I'm just days away from signing on the dotted line for a Sapphire Black E91 335d Sport too! (Early December delivery). I'm in the process of either part exchanging my 535d Sport.

I agree, the 3 series is a bit more 'chuckable' but I've had my 535d for just over a year, it's an awesome car and I will miss it. It's the only one where people have walked upto me and commented on it.

Maybe it's the 19"s - makes the difference.

regards

Hi,
I'm going for the 335d Sport Touring and am selling my 535d Sport.
Bets of luck on what you decide.

Did you post the same question on a 3 series forum like e90post.com? It'd be interesting to see how the opinions vary.
