Had a few weeks where my small turbo was not working, i.e. no power low in the the rev range then full boost from around 3000rpm.
So I thought I would describe what it felt like, the first attempt at a fix and the final answer...for info...
Car is a Nov 2004 model (5.5 yrs old) with 100,000 miles.
First syptom was intermittent power loss at low RPM, then it would generally lose power after the car had warmed up. The small turbo would work again after it had had a night to really cool down.
Finally it failed completely and after searching on this forum, I looked under the engine cover and saw that ALL the hoses which run around the engine had split.
The delaer replaced these for me but there was no chanage, the small turbo still failed to kick in.
I took it back and the software said the turbo pressure converter had failed. They replaced it and it still did not work, but on closer inspection the hose connecting the pressure converter had split. This was replaced, the monster low down boost is back and I am a happy man.
It would appear to be a common problem once the cars get over 5 yrs old, but once you know what it is it is relatively inexpensive to fix.
Cheers,
Mike

My car is last week Dec 2004 (only ±70.000Km = ±45.000miles) and just now happened the same. I'm glad there is such a quick and inexpensive fix. I see our cars are almost the same
Thanks very much for the write-up!
