Indeed, I'm not worried about the wait, I was never in a rush for the car. Starting looking in Feb, was ready to buy in May, but decided to wait for new registration in September before taking delivery. The issue really is getting my dealer to agree that they were at fault for telling me one thing and doing something else. ie. Telling me it would not go off for build until July but sent it at the very beginning of June.
Initial indication from the dealer is that a replacement car would arrive around the end of September. Im happy to wait 4 - 5 weeks no problem, like you say this is going to eat me up otherwise.

I live in Germany and have been looking at various E60s since May. I've driven many demo models and when I visited the dealership in Jun was told that based on production timelines if I ordered a 535 it would be ready in Aug. I went back in Jul to order the car and to my dismay, was informed that my car won't arrive until 15 Oct!
Glad to hear things are working out for you. I sold my previous BMW before I ordered my new one and I gotta say, the wait is just about killing me! I'm tempted to just rent one for a week to get my fix!

Funnily enough we're going away around just before the car's due and I'm getting tetchy about whether we will have the new car or will have to go in a heap of Ford Escort! Still can't be helped!
Congratsd on your new car, what spec did you go for?

I picked it up yesterday. 535d M Sport with sports auto transmission.
I am soo pleased with it. I really wanted the M% for the SMG experience, but this is fantastic. I'm just being careful at the moment until it is run in. In certain light it actually looks like a deep navy blue instead of black.

When sales are up, like they are now, they will run a limited shift to help supplement production during shutdown.
I suspect the issue with the car in this thread is that it was produced earlier than normal due to the limited August schedule.

It's interesting you should say that about the colour - I was looking at this picture yesterday and saying to my wife I liked the dark blue colour, to which she replied "that's black"... http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/index/0,,1156__...t-bmwuk,00.html
