Thumbs up

Wonder if anyone can help, I have a 2005 535d which has been remapped by DMS and is exhibiting some very strange behaviour...

After the car has had a hard run (kick down up to about 80mph) the next time you kick down, the revs rise to 4000 rpm but the car refuses to accelerate, it just holds it?s revs.

After quite a bit of investigation by my local independent and a replacement changeover valve I had the car ECU flashed back to normal and the problem went away.
DMS came out a couple of weeks ago to reapply the remap and the problem is back ? I?m not sure what?s going on as I?ve had the remap since 2005 with no problems.

Any ideas?

No ideas?

DMS came up yesterday and checked the map and said it was OK - they thought it "could be" the MAF. Don't really want to change it if it's not gonna fix the problem....

Have you seen this? Clean the MAF rather than change it....

Hope you find an answer soon.

How much meaner does the 535d feel with DMS than without - now you have swapped back a forth?

It's not the MAF. The MAF at high speed would not lock revs. If you had a rough idle or emission problems it would be MAF.

I had problems with the steptronic transmission where when the car was running at a constant speed [usually slow speeds <35mph] the transmission/ECU would try to conserve fuel by enabling the lockup torque converter. The work around, as told to me by the master mechanic at the dealership, is to use the 'sport' mode.

I would guess the issue you have is ECU/Transmission related.

Thanks - I'll give that a shot.

The DMS map makes a hell of a difference, really transforms the car. I can feel it a lot more now that I have had it taken off and put back on - I think I must have gotten used to the power!

Hmm - I'll get them checked out when I next take my car in to the garage...

Thanks!

I had a prblem on very high speeds, where I felt that the 2nd turbo had switched off. This problem went away after re-starting the car. The dealer replaced the turbo pressure regulator. There are 3 regulators which control the 2 turbos. After this repair - ?500. The car seem to have the problem you addressed above and the dealer then replaced all the vaccum pipes around the engine and now the car is back to normal. Hence check for worn vaccum pipes in the first instance!
