My Ride: 535D Tourer - Pre LCI
Hi, Last weekend I changed both the EGR and main sensor aswell as the coolant to sort my slight temp probs - upon testing i found it sat at a nice 88-96C... good enough for me.
The real test came on the way to work on Monday, ten miles, half traffic half bypass's - the car bearly reached 80C by the end of the journey, it gets to 90 about 3-4 miles before i get home on the return journey. probably because the car is in a basement car park.
This weekend i plan to take the mani off and clean the crank breather along with changing the vac pipes for silicone items. Whilst this is off, is there anything I can do in my cleaning exercise that will help...i'll have a crack at the mani and EGR too obviously....
Anyone any ideas?
Tim

Tim,
Did you mean thermostats by "sensors"?
The 10 mile drive sounds about right for the coolant to heat up. Of course this does not mean the engine oil reaches the proper temperature, as that will take even longer...
You could install blinds in front of the radiator to keep the driving wind out, but probably taking the long way home is the best way to heat up your car...
Cheers,
Liam
