I'm 99% sure your DPF is like this (part 2):

...and that should be located under the car approx. between the front seats.

Ok then it's definitely like in the picture.
If your car is missing that part, then the answer for the loud sound is clear: the previous owner has removed the DPF, but hasn't reprogrammed the car to forget all about the regeneration.

all the box's that were between the big box at the front (the one on an angle going up to the turbo's) and the rear silencer have been removed by the previous owner.

I can hear it when my DPF is going through it. In my car it's a low humming sound when accelerating.

You can follow your engine temps in a "hidden menu". When the regeneration is on, the engine temps go up about 4-5 celsius degrees.

But if my DPF would be clogged, I guess I would have less power ?! should have I a warning lamp or message coming on the intruments ?

My 535d is a rocket. No diesel so far could stay behind my rear bumper. It achieves 255km/hr like a jet (246 on an external GPS).
On the other hand, I would like to point out that I drive quite "strongly"; the other night, when I came home, I opened the bonnet just after stopping to see the exhaust collector... it was dark red.

That's correct, you would loose power and have a warning or a fault message. So there must be everything ok in your car. Maybe you too should check your exhaust. Maybe the DPF has been removed (if you're not the first owner)...
