Hello All,

I was at BMW for a little work on my car and I got into a conversation with my SA about his recent 2-day trip so SanFran to check out new models. He got to drive the 535D and told me it will become available in the US sometime next year... something like 250HP and 440ft-lbs torque - should be fun!

Jon.

535d is an amazing car and I urge you guys to try it once it becomes available. Yes it may be a tad slower than a 545/550 but the fuel economy and all that torque will make you happier in the end.

Not sure if this was posted here already but here is a Top Gear episode from about 2 years back. They compare the 535d to a 545i on the track. Keep in mind these presenters generally hate BMW. In that respect I think it fared very well

Of course diesels don't use gas.

The nominal fuel consumption figures can be derived from the BMW UK website but you will have to do the conversion to US units.

Fuel consumption (Imperial)
Urban (mpg) 31.4
Extra-urban (mpg) 52.3
Combined (mpg) 42.2

A better way of looking at it is range on a tankful.

For me, all town stop/start = 425 miles; motorway = 600 miles.

I beg to differ:

The current 535d's engine produces 210kW

= 282 HP (Imperial)
= 286 PS (Metric)

Maybe you meant PS.

Most of poeple in Europe call it the "M5 Diesel"... well self explanatory no ?

But you'll drive twice the distance with a full tank

Twice the distance of...

My tankful varies from 425 to 600 miles depending on type of driving.
