Unhappy

I had a little rendevous with one of my friends from BMW sales, to look at the 330xd they
will be giving me... more on that later

Anyways we decided to take the 330xd (e91 touring) and a newish demo 535d for some high speed
runs on an abandoned airfield around 40km of sofia.

We got there no problem, i was driving the 330xd.. my my what a little monster

Anyways we swapped cars and i got into the 535d, engine was nicely warmed up, all vitals were within ranges, the car had 2547 km on the speedo... And this is where things went wrong.

We got ready to launch... car put into M1 mode, dtc + dsc switched off.
Brake torqued (hard start) at around 2500rpm... 3...2...1... start with kickdown

Great launch, lots of wheel spin (no sports package), 1st gear all the way to the revline
...
and then it shifts into 3rd (while im still holding kickdown).. drops to 1000rpm with a clunk sound coming from the transmission and stays at that for about a second, possibly slightly longer... in the mean time its hardly accelerating...

finally it shifts back to 2nd and starts accelerating again to the revline, then 3rd as normal and so on ???

Thing is if i dont brake torque it its fine, if i brake torque it just a bit (to about 1500-1600rpm) its still ok. But if i build up the revs to 2000rpm or more it does it again and again ????

We couldnt figure this one out

/oh and BTW the 330xd ripped the 535d's @ss ..nor very fair but still

anyone else on this one

Never clunks from my car, but I never brake torque beyond 1k. When testing my car, "my" shop foreman brake torqued to 2k and engine/tranny protection kicked in even with DTC/DSC off. He was surprised; I wasn't. Maybe you engaged some engine/tranny protection. Still, the clunk doesn't sound good. "The" foreman says that brake torquing should not hurt unless done repeatedly or at a very excessive RPM--whatever that might be.

So taking a second off that for a DMS re-map (as per manufacturers figures), mine must hit 60 in under 5 seconds, AWESOME.

Ps. No weird gearbox activity from my car, it was obviously not being driven correctly
