Just a small matter of a small hole in the bank account to cover up
I'd like to do the same but my wife would notice... I did promise to keep the 530d for at least 4 years, thus why I bought the 5 year service inclusive

Iceman, here is another, I think different from the earlier source I believe you are referring to: http://www.hs-elektronik.com/datenblatt-e/...33ps-450nm.html
German vendor and slightly different numbers.? Also more expensive at 1200+ Euros verses the $1000 I was quoted by Wetterauer Engineering.? Being now that I have seen two working the 4.4L in the 5, 6, and 7 series how far behind are the more familiar tuners?
Can a ECU be purchased outright in the US?? I ask as both of the two chiptuners have required removal, transport, reprogramming and return.? The other issue is testing before and after.? Most of these vendors are not close at hand (at least not in Florida) so I imagine a reputable speed shop needs to be found for some before and after dyno testing.

Anyways, if you take a look to the Wetterauer chip, it looks waaay better, IMHO...

[/quote]Yep, the German Speed Merchants in Wilmington are the ones I spoke to. Gentleman there had to discuss with HQ as he had not done the 4.4L engine yet. They would want the car, remove ECU and ship to Indiana HQ. Wetterauer sales in Indiana sent me an email indicating the 4.4L chip programmer was not in the US yet, expected in March. If I was in hurry (which I am not - car not in hand yet) they would arrange for overnight to Europe and back. I told them I would wait. I got some pretty good testimonials on Wetterauer from a couple of other forums. It is something to think about after I have had a chance to see what I've got after the break in period. I'll keep my eyes and ears tuned for other 4.4L tuning options in the meantime. Thanks for follow up.

It's the usual 'tuned for all conditions' excuse, e.g. for low quality fuel, reliability

Like the vid, whats the new bhp/torque figures, where did you get the chip from and how much? Is there a big difference in the way the car drives? I thought the std 535 had powerful pull right up to the redline! Last one were you in auto or manual mode?

There is a noticeable difference in the car - it's now an animal!! As far as I can remember it was either DS or starting in M2 - I suspect the latter.

Nice vid SG535d - however on the grounds on mental sanity? this sort of posting should not be allowed !
*** UPDATE ***
Got my hands on one of these - Gtech Pro Performance Meter (1994 version)
Took it out for a quick spin this evening - note that it has been drizzling all evening, the roads are damp!
DSC off, Steptronic in manual M2, foot to the floor. Wheels are spinning as we're moving forward for quite a bit but held the line straight and it recorded a 0 to 60 of 5.60 seconds!!!
Thats with winter tyres as well!
Can't wait to try it with my summer tyres installed, and a good dry stretch of empty tarmac.
Note - I'll try and get the 1/4 mile time with this tomorrow.
