I've seen this vid and somehow it doesn't seem right to me. Why not try this one, fair and square , both from standing still, several tries, makes better sense to me...

And much better quality as well......

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QsNVVESNH4

but the 335i is stock. if chipped (Xede or other programs), the bi-turbo is a monster like jonsibal said.
In another video made by Walked_U, he beat a e39 m5 and e46 m3. Refer to youtube.

I got love for the 550 too, I drove one before (better that my 2.5L ). But the bi-turbo has more engine potential mod-wise then the v8 will (i dont think there is a blower available for the V8, right VT?).

Yes, that is what turns me off from the ED. Just need to figure out if the $3460 savings and a trip to Germany is worth the wait.
For me it was. Just think of the Autobahn and the sections without speed limit! There's no better way to break it in. Most likely it'll never go that fast again once it gets to the US.

This is going off topic. Go to the Dealer Purchasing and Servicing subforum and create a new thread. I'll explain how you can save over $7K immediately by doing ED.

My apologies for going offtopic. Here is the new thread I created about ED. Thanks

Back on topic. One thing that I like about the 550 is that it comes with the MTec kit already plus if the tuners like VF, AA, Dinan makes an SC for it, then it might be cool too but I feel that you can get more power per dollar spent upgrading the N54 motor vs the V8 out of the 550i.

Have you guys seen the vid between the stock 545i and stock 335i from a dig/stop. They were pretty much even to about 120 or so. The 335 did start creeping ahead though at around 100+.

If anyone is interested, you can ask walked U/sherwin to upload the vid. The vid was taken down as my face appeared in the video. I really don't mind though.

About the 550 vs. 535, I go back and forth, but getting everything delivered like you want directly from the factory is a big plus in my book. Despite the modding potential of the 535, I think I'd take the 550.

IMO the new '09 5 series (f10) won't help the 550 sales. I was thinking about getting the 08 550 but decided to wait for the revamped '09 5 series. The twin-turbo v-8 sounds appealing

Add to the fact the 535 is lighter-another perk
I just ordered a 535i last week (have to wait until OCTOBER to get a 6 speed). To me, it wasn't the price differential that steered me to the 535i instead of the 550i, but it just seemed "right": the straight six and the lighter weight. It is like the 5 series I lusted for when I was a kid, just a lot faster.

There are some misconceptions here on the advent of the F10. I even saw a salesman tell a customer looking at an LCI in the showroom that car would change next year. There is a post here referring to Edmund's who show a picture of it and say its a 2008.

The F10 will most probably be MY2010, Starting production in 09/2009 or 03/2009.

Hmmm... I saved close to $9K off MSRP for my 545i doing ED. Retail was $65K.
I don't care about those little differences, just love that V8 growl!

I think i would go for the 535, which will probably be my next car in 08 as it is nearly as good as the 550 but quite a load cheaper!

There really is no comparison between a turbo-six and the brute force of the eight. I personally chose it because I consider it to be the essence of what the e60 was designed to be: POWER to spare, rock solid handling and all the interior luxury that is required. The M5, of course, is still the super ultimate version, but for me an over the top waste of additional hp and, of course, fuel, fuel and more fuel.
