The new Roundel issue mentions that a E90 335 was being tested here in the US and I was wondering if anyone has heard of an E60 535? How much HP/Torque?

Rumours are just over 300PS and 450Nm.

I think the 335 in question is most likely the rumored 335i - a turbo version of the petrol N52. I'd like to see that kind of an engine in the E60. It would get insane support from tuners. I've had a lot of experience with turbo cars, it would be trivial to add 50+ hp with less than $1000 of bolt ons and software.

...everything i've read speaks to it being in the E90 not the E60, but who knows...the better choice to fill the power gap in the US for the E60 between the 530i and 550i is the 540i which makes 306bhp and is already available in europe

I'd rather have the turbo personally, but I know you and I have already covered that ground...

The turbo powertrain would be a guaranteed 350hp or more with innocuous mods, and a similar increase on the 540i would be next to impossible without heavy engine rebuilding.

I agree with UUronL,

There seems to be something special about a turbo INLINE 6 that would be uniquely BMW....and I think it would garner a lot of praise and media...turbo car's are hot right now...

Heh - the last inline 6 sequential turbo to grace our shores was quite legendary - the Supra Turbo of the mid 90s.
