My Ride: E90 M3
Model Year: 2011
Uh oh, here we go again...
Both great cars. 550 only slightly faster than stock 535 but 535 can be tuned and is then faster than 550. Earlier model years of 535 were not available with M-aero package but it is now available. 535 has had issues with the high pressure fuel pump so that's a mild negative. Ultimately it is a question of the perception of value. I like the V8 and did not want to risk owning a 535 after reading about some issue with the engine in the 335. Overall it is a great car, only you can answer this question for yourself.
Also do a search as this has been much debated here...

gmoney1118,
It always helps to understand what you are looking for in a car, otherwise our opinions will not be very relevant. With the advent of the 535 its not only the performance that makes the decision hard between the two, its the standard equiptment thats in both.
There use to be a one full second 0-60 difference between the six and eight cylinder, and the interiors were different also. I remember there was some options that were on the eight cylinder that you couldn't get on the six. Having both models now is bordering on redundancy.

My Ride: 2004 545i - Bone stock... help!
As a resident of the Middle East, I vote 550. We need consumption and demand to increase - Target is about $75 a barrel. Make it happen! Thanks.
