I know a few of you guys have had 530xi's with 19" rims. im really trying to avoid low profiles (i.e. 35, 30). what are my options for tire sizes. i know c recommended 245/40/19 and 275/35/19...those just seem too low profile for my roads. whats the largest i can go? thanks.

some people recommend 285/35/19 in the back for better fit. As you might know, the profile figure in the tire size is the percentage of the width, hence on a 285mm tire 35% is more than on a 275. That being said, from what I know this is pretty much as far as it is recommended to go - you have to remember, higher profile tire's overall diameter is bigger, which brings upon all kinds of rubbing issues...

hope this helps though GL and keep us posted on what you find out too

I am in the same situation... getting 19 rims next week, and I want 285/35 on the rear, but as I heard around, they rub.....

That size won't rub on the rear.

In addition to the valuable resources here, you could call the experts at http://www.tirerack.com and I am sure they'll be able to give you some informed opinions as well. G/L

Depends on whether you're going with staggered rims otherwise I think the correct size would be 245/35R19 on all four corners. I agree with the pothole issue - that's why I stuck with 18" CSL's and 245/40x18 tires. And this morning's trip to north Jersey confirmed I made the right decision!

Think on it!

Here's a website that can help you compare tire dimensions < http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
