My Ride: 530i Titanium Silver Metallic, premium package, cold weather
I ran a few errands yesterday with no problem. Then all of a sudden, I left the dry cleaners and the car simply wouldn't start. I have power to everything (windows, lights, etc), but when I turn the key - nothing. Any suggestions on what to check?

Try turning the steering wheel as far left then as far right as you can. This may unlock it, and you may then be able to start the car. This happened to me a few weeks ago.

How old is the battery?
These cars have a very high draw on the battery. Running short trips the battery is never having time to fully recharge itself or start to even charge. Once you drop below what the car expects the car won't start. My service agent told me a while back that the E60's charging system takes a solid 15 minutes to get the battery back to full. Then he went on how it all works. But bottom line was you drive for 5 mins. turn the car off, come back drive a few minutes get out, etc. your asking for trouble on an older battery.
Did you get the car started yet?? If not jump it and you should be fine. Drive the car a good half hour afterwards or put a battery charger on it overnite. Just know that down the road your going to need a new battery sooner then later.

how much was it with labor to repair?
+2. It was a pain to do. Cost me only $180 for the starter though.
