sometime my 530i has this annoying noise ,hard to describe it but from what i've read it might be the 545i diesel or pinging noise. but i have a 530i anyone have experienced this or know what it sounds like. also when i shut off the car i hear a clank noise coming from engine, dont know if that's normal i just got the car a month ago.


also the noise goes away atfter shifting into 3rd or it might just not be as loud, the wierd thing is it doesn't always happen sometime its no sound at all then next time ill use the car it sometimes reappears (radomly)

anyone know anything about this?

No this is not normal. I have read on Swedish forums about this problem on 325i and on E90post. Please search there and you will find more info

I think my 06 530i is having the same issue. When I shut the engine off, I hear sort of a clanking noise. It's as if the engine is still running for a second or so after I shut of the engine. Any idea what this is?
