What Do U Think About The 530i Acceleration?

And Did Anyone Has A Kill Story ?

I test drove an 05 320 and it was a dog. My 530 is a dog...can hardly wait another 23 months until I can get a 550 or 535

Unless you got a killer lease deal on a 530, it is worth it to get a 550i or 535i. I drove a 530 recently and was glad to get back into my 545i.
I think the torque difference between the 550 and 530 (360tq vs. 220 tq) is worth the price and the 535i should be very nice also.

Yes you should wait for the 535i. It should be out in the next few more months..

I hate our power. Sure, it's better than my old E39 530 sport, but I should have gone with the 550. If my lease payment wouldn't have been $1k/month on the 550, since it was the first 2007 order and the MF was so high, I would have gotten it. Too bad 2009 is not around the corner...

2000 Jeep Wrangler non-stock =)
Well, the 530i is plenty for me and it's an '04 and i love my 28mpg. However, I'm sure if i jumped into at least a 545 i would take that! I say wait for the 535 or grab a 550.

Come on people!! you're killing me !! It ain't that bad!
I have a 530i, I've had it for 5 months.
o.k it's not the fastest thing out there but let's be real....it's pretty quick!
It's all relative...I mean, a 550i is quick but not when you put it up against an M5. A 530 is quick as well, depending on what you're comparing it to. I don't race my 530 but when I'm driving around in the city or on the highway, I never feel 'slow'. I've gone from 75mph to 125mph on the highway in the middle of the night and believe me...it happened pretty fast.
When I'm driving around in sport mode and I want to take someone over or be the first to leave when the light turns green....it does it ! 255hp isn't much...but the BMW inline 6 is very smooth and feels good.
Now, if you want to be the 'king of the road'......it's not gonna happen !!! But let's just say that the 530i definitely has enough power to get your license suspended or get you a serious fine. It's cool to have a lot of power..but I gotta ask.....where and when do you really use it ?? 0-60 in 5 sec.....cool...when ?? dropping the kids off at soccer practice ? top speed of 200mph...cool....when.....on your way to work in the morning !!! LOL
Don't get me wrong...fast and powerful cars are a lot of fun...and if I could..I'd drive an M5 !! lol ...but I'm just trying to make a point here !! ....
THE 530 ISN'T A BRICK !!! IT CAN MOVE !!!!
oh...and by the way...if you can..............get a 550i ........LOLOLOLOL

I completely concur with NWilliams! The 530i isn't the fastest thing on the road but when used correctly (or incorrectly depending on your point of view), it will definitely attract the attention of the local law enforcement agency. I occassionally get my thrills when I hit the accelerator hard. Besides where can you legally drive 155 mph in the US?
My co-workers in Malaysia, who drive BMWs, would kill to get their hands on a 530i with the power the US version offers.

It never ceases to amaze us Europeans how our American bethren can refer to a 3.0 i-6 BMW as 'a dog' and too slow...
It seems that many Americans are very focused on raw firepower ... hp, 0-60, #cylinders, cubic capacity...
In this part of the world, is often about handling and real-world performance weighed up against economy and emissions...
This would kind of explain BMW's recent push to hit certain bhp and 0-60 numbers ... seems that the US market is competing on these specs...
(not that I'm complaining!)
Going back to the OP's question...
IMHO, the 3.0l is a wonderful engine... very refined and balanced and you have more power than you would ever really need...
I think the straight-sixes are BMWs fort? and the naturally aspirated 3.0l is the BMW classic...
