DXXXi, nope, its not a gear change - although I can see how it would seem like one. But in a gear change the RPM drop is usualy 1000 - 2000 rpm, this drop is only a couple hundred RPM...

I cant say the problem happens everytime - but I am gonna drive around a bit with my digicam and see if I can take a short video of it happening...

For normal autobox, when slightly press on gas pedal, tach goes up to 2KRPM and wait for you to accelerate. In this case, while driving at 25 - 35, I slightly press on gas pedal, and RPM stay the same. I can feel the car is under heavy load. If I press hard on gas pedal, RPM goes up to 4 - 5KRPM. This is not normal.

Starting from stop in D mode, you can feel the transmission upshift as high as it can. While at 25 - 30mph, ease gas pedal a little bit to let it upshift -> RPM will drop to 1.2KRPM. Slightly press on gas pedal, and you'll see what I am talking about.

Would anyone expect this problem in a $50K BMW? It's a shame! It's sound like it's an Intimate Driving Machine

I'll try it on my way to work tomorrow but I often press slightly on the accelerator from a 40-50 kmh coast and it has done nothing strange whatsoever.

Well, I just got my car back from the shop today, and one of the fixes I had done was CIP 16.2 installed. I haven't had a chance to drive much since picking the car up this afternoon, but so far my feeling is that the car is accelerating much better. The lag I was experiencing...especially from a standstill seems to be all but gone. I'll have to drive for awhile while the car relearns my driving patterns, but so far I am happy and optimistic!!

some of the members, including me, are having the same problem for months. i drove the car with the tech and he also drove the car. we both noticed the lag but he said it's normal . he told me he drove other e60s and they all reacted the same. some members upgraded the s/w to 15.? and the problem seems disappeared. i still have 13.2 and look forward to 16.2. hopefully it'll solve this irritating, annoying problem. hope to hear some good news from you, kmslo530i .

Ok, I tried it on the way to work and there is a slight drop in RPM (100-200)when doing this but man is that ever picky. I suspect it is related to whatever they use to convert the digital RPM signal to analogue for the tach - I guess they could use a digital tach but people would complain like crazy (including me). The car's performance is absolutely unaffected - no hesitation at all.
