Thanks for that insight/gross generalisation- Can you define a typical petrol engine for me?

Hello mates
I must agree with you ans also disagree.
I have my first BMW it is a 530D and i like the motor.
Before I hade a Saab 95 sport combi whith modificated motor 2.0Turbo.
and i have drowed relative many cars.
I don't thing you actually can compare a 335d and a 335i
The disel have 580Nm/(428lb-ft) vs the gasoline 400Nm(295lb-ft)
Put a trailer behind and then make a test! if you whant to see what the disel goes for!
Its the same with the 5 serie also the smothnes and the torque is something to like if you dont like to running at high rpm.
I know that the six gasoline is wery nice on high rpm specialy the bmws.
You americans shold know from all your big muscle motors, wich i like nothing goes up against muscle wich means torque.
for you both thats compearing 0-100km/h and the diffren is 0.2s look at the diffrent from 80-120 at forth gear!
The difrens is 5.1 vs 6.6 with advantage for the disel, only 550i have the same as 530D, but it could not be many out there who having a 550 thith manual transmission, for the 535D there is no figure as these are only automatic transmission.
When do you use the 0-100km/h 0r 0-60miles/h isn't a good feeling to just stamp the gas when you shold make a getting past a slow driwer, compered with moving down to 3rd or even 2nd gear.
But I think all of you out there likes you cars, and if you dont you will probebly change.
Be nice to eachother and keep up the feeling

One set of corners would have sorted you out ...
... then the GTi would flog you into next week ... DSG + FSI in GTI is faster than manual 135i through corners

Mark V/GTi is arguably one of the best quality/value cars of the modern era
In 2005 ... it was light years ahead of its time ... better technology than cars that cost 10x as much

Mark my words ... Every car within 10 years will have a DSG style/twin-clutch transmission

Unfortunately not a very good car. I had 07 and have 08. 20 months difference between production dates. I had tranny problems in both (valve body replaced) because of the rough gear changes as well as radiator fan replaced in the first one because of the noise it was making. I start hearing same noise again. So not much improvement during production i guess... As for other post there is no chance GTI wil touch 135 stock vs stock no matter how many corners. You can't just beat 100 horses extra. I own 545 it has 3 times the miles my GTI has and there is no comparison in handling. Just my 2

lol @ this thread, try my GTi Ed30 "Stage 1" (310 at the fly) with your "Stage 1" 530d.. bye bye beema
Tbh, a stage 1 GTi (250 bhp at the fly) would keep with a stage 1 530d, less weight same power, torque is fairly irrelevent in balls out racing; nice try.

+1000 The R32 is far from a speed demon, too much weight with the 4WD system and the V-6. Plus with all the weight in the front it can't turn for shit.
