530d transmission fluid topping help
Hi! I have a 2004 e60 530d, that has a small leakage somewhere, probably a seal. Over time some oil has been dripping out of the transmission, thought I'd top it up since the car is shifting really hard and it's obvious the transmission has too little oil in it. But when I jacked it up in the air and put jack stands on each corner, removed the fill plugg to the transmission, fluid just poured out. Any thoughts?!

For the moment I'll assume you have a ZF 6HP19.
If fluid came out of the fill plug, that's natural and also a good indication of the fluid level.
When you learn the drain and fill process of the ZF transmission, you'll understand why a half liter (or so) can come out of the fill plug.
Not to worry, but now its time to invest in acquiring the learning process on how to drain and fill it correctly.

Car must be running with the transmission in park when filling / topping off. I am assuming that you have an automatic transmission. With the engine running, the torque converter will suck up about 1.5 L of transmission fluid. The car MUST be running.

Thanks! That could probably be why the oil just poured out when I opened the fill plug then, I did not have the car running when doing it.
